Assessment Services

Our clinic offers clinical and medico-legal assessments for diagnosis, reporting and recommendations.  Our Clinical Psychologists are available for Disability Support Pension (DSP) assessments and reporting to meet Centrelink requirements.

Our Psychometric Assessment Clinic in Lancefield, Victoria, offers child, adolescent and adult Cognitive Assessments, Intellectual Disability and Adaptive Behaviour Assessment,  Education and Specific Learning Disorder Assessments and Coordination of Comprehensive Needs Assessment for Autism Spectrum diagnosis and recommendations.

Cognitive Assessment

A cognitive assessment is used to assess a person's intellectual function(IQ). The tests administered are the Wechsler Preschool & Primary Scale of Intelligence – Fourth Edition(WPPSI), Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children – Fifth Edition(WISC), or Wechsler Adult Intelligence Scale – Fourth Edition(WAIS), depending on the persons age. These tests can assist with identifying how an individual processes information and identify cognitive strengths and weaknesses.

Educational(Specific Learning Disorder) Assessment

An educational assessment is used to assess a person’s academic functioning. The test administered is the Wechsler Individual Achievement Test – Third Edition(WIAT) and the cognitive assessment may need to be conducted in addition.  This test provides information regarding a person’s academic strengths and weaknesses, informing eligibility for educational services and diagnosis of a specific learning disability, for example; dyslexia, dyscalculia, or dysgraphia.

ASD  Assessment

Autism spectrum disorder, commonly shortened to Autism or ASD, is a developmental condition that can impact individuals at all stages of life. The assessment involves a clinical diagnostic interview with a person's parent/guardian/close friend called the Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised(ADI-R),  the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule – Second Edition(ADOS), a cognitive assessment and additional assessment questionnaires may to be completed by parents, teachers or other family members too.

ADHD Assessment

Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, most commonly abbreviated to ADHD, is a neurodevelopmental disorder that impacts people of all ages. The tests administered are the cognitive assessment, a diagnostic  interview(DIVA) and assessment questionnaires to be completed by parents/family members or teachers. Please note that a Psychologist is not able to prescribe medication for ADHD, for medication, a Psychiatrist assessment would be necessary.

We are a private clinic and fees apply for assessment and reporting.  Some clients may be eligible for funding or rebates under various government initiatives.
